Dealing with Usability Concerns in a Project Organization is Possible

The implementation of EnjoySAP as a project proved its worth in an organizational sense as well. The project management team contained usability coordinators and project managers from application areas who were integrated in the day-to-day work that was going on and could thus escalate problems directly and initiate possible solutions throughout the company. In the extended core project team, there was a division between the technical work in the UEC, on the one hand, and the product management work, on the other. Its members managed the distribution of the technical content by means of internal and external marketing, support of the Enjoy Knowledgebase etc. so that the members of the UEC could concentrate on the technical issues such as providing consulting for the focus applications. Another indication of the success of this organizational form was the fact that the mySAP.com project, an SAP Internet initiative, began in mid-1999 as a result of the positive experience with EnjoySAP.
