Results in the Treasury Development DepartmentProcess ImprovementThe situation in the Treasury Development department before the EnjoySAP project was such that questions of software ergonomics were accorded hardly any relevance at all. Except for sporadic questions put to the usability contact person by individual software engineers, there were no activities worth mentioning, not least because, due to lack of time, the usability contact person could only carry out the role as a kind of hobby. The EnjoySAP project changed this situation and contributed toward a decisive change in the thinking of the software engineers and the management. A full-time usability expert was appointed, and this person is now responsible for the entire usability process. Management support is assured, and there is appropriate scope for escalation that transcends hierarchies. The usability expert provides the usability services requested by the software engineers on their own initiative. Moreover, there is always the possibility of internal discussions on specific questions relating to the user interface. Because of the very fact that the usability expert does not exert a control function, and instead provides sound consulting and other services, the process model is successful and has been accepted. When there are complex issues or a need to act on an SAP-wide level, the usability expert can turn to the central usability group in order to initiate further activities. Overall, it can be said that the EnjoySAP project has led to the development of a new process in the Treasury development department, which now runs very smoothly on the whole so that there is little need for further optimization. An important result was a change in the thinking of the software engineers, who now accord usability a higher priority.
