User Interface Designer (f/m) for SAP NetWeaver Development and Modeling

Our team is part of the SAP User Experience department. We are responsible for User Interface (UI) design, interaction design, and usability of the elements required to implement SAP’s user interfaces in the SAP NetWeaver technology platform. Currently, our design focus is on development and administration tools, modeling tools, business intelligence, Web 2.0, Portal, and other technical user interfaces. Our work is based on the user-centered design (UCD) process throughout the company.

We are looking to hire a UI Designer (f/m) to add to our team in Walldorf (Germany).

Tasks

In this position, you will design UIs and User Interaction based on user research, human factors principles, use cases, platform style guides, and related industry experience. Artifacts of the design are wireframes, high fidelity prototypes, and formal UI specifications. You will communicate with the tools’ developers, elicit use case information from the product definition department, specify the user interfaces and design the interaction. As a core member of the SAP User Experience Team the UI Designer (f/m) position involves working closely with Product Managers to identify project requirements as well as with members of the Software Development team to ensure proper implementation of designs. Emphasis is placed on creating a superior user experience through new designs and constant product evolution and iteration, improvements to overall usability, information, presentation, and process flow.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Science in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science or related field required. A Master's degree is preferred.
Ability to assume intellectual ownership and possess strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality product.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and synthesize crossfunctional input, effective and comfortable in a team/collaborative environment.
The ability to effectively discuss a user interface specification with a group of software developers, while taking users' interests into considerations is also a focus of your work.
With your qualifications and/or extensive professional experience you must demonstrate that you can produce tangible results from this combination of responsibilities in an international, project deadline driven team.
Ideally, you have knowledge of programming and software ergonomics and an affinity for visual design.
A technical background would be advantageous.
Fluency in English is a must.

As the ideal candidate (f/m), you spent a number of years designing the UI for software products after completing the appropriate training and have specific experience of designing the UI for development tools. It would be advantageous if you had already worked in an international team with colleagues from different cultures.
