Interface Designer position.
Sr User Interface Designer
Location: Palo Alto, CA, U.S.A. (relocation assistance
available)
Primary Responsibility
Will work collaboratively with user interface designers, developers, product
managers other related disciplines to identify, specify, maintain and govern
user interface building blocks (UIBBs) for SAP applications, including enterprise,
small and medium-sized business solutions. Ensures UI Standards and Specifications
satisfy business, functional, technical, and usability requirements. Is responsible
for managing the evolution and usability of the UIBBs, patterns and associated
standards and guidelines.
Primary Role
Define, design, prototype, specify, document and maintain the following user
interface aspects:
- Interaction controls and elements
- Building blocks
- Patterns
- Standards and guidelines
Secondary Role
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize UI requirements
- Develop scenarios to express UIBBs and patterns in the context of business
task situations and processes
- Participate in exploring and ideating user interface innovations
- Contribute to overall project planning
- Mentor junior staff
Qualifications
- Graduate level training or equivalent work experience in:
- Human Computer Interaction
- Human Factors
- Other related user interface design discipline
- Five or more years experience designing user interfaces for data-driven
applications – preferably business applications.
Skills
Strong experience in:
- Ability to think abstractly/conceptually about design with an understanding
and appreciation of how these abstractions would be applied by the end-users
(application designers and developers)
- Defining/specifying user interface building blocks, user interface controls
in addition to user interface and interaction patterns
- Gathering and synthesizing business, technical, functional, and usability
requirements
- Developing user profiles, use cases, and scenarios
- Writing detailed technical specifications as well as standards and guidelines
for international software applications
- Prototyping UIBB and user interface concepts
- Learning and understanding complex business technologies
- Collaborating with multi-disciplines
Plus attributes
- Foreign language, business and cultural experiences
- Experience with working on geographically distributed teams
- Ability to travel
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of web business applications
