SAP Took Part in World Usability Day 2007

As in 2006, SAP User Experience played an active part in the World Usability Day 2007. This year, it had the motto "Making Life easy!" SAP and kuehlhaus invited usabilitiy practitioners and interested parties to come to the "bootshaus" in Mannheim on November 8, 2007, and attend the local World Usability event. SAP Unveiled SAP Business ByDesign™, A New Business Software Solution for the Midsize Market

The 19th of September, 2007 started a new era for SAP customers, users of SAP software, and the company itself. At a global press event in New York, USA, SAP's CEO Henning Kagermann unveiled the company's entirely new business software solution SAP Business ByDesign™ for the midsize market. It complements the existing small and midsize enterprise product portfolio, employs a new business model, also also breaks new grounds with respect to user experience.

This year's Mensch & Computer conference featured the motto "Mensch & Computer: Interaktion im Plural" (man and computer: interaction in plural). The conference was held in Weimar, Germany from September 2-5, 2007. As in previous years, SAP was a sponsor to the conference.

The 12th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCI International 2007, was held in Beijing, P.R. China, from July 22-27, 2007. SAP User Experience had a recruiting booth at the conference.

The Creativity & Cognition conference 2007 was held in Washington DC, from June 13th, 2007 through June 15th, 2007. The conference series began in 1993 and has evolved into a lively multidisciplinary event combining research and practice. Industry sponsors included SAP (SAP Research, Palo Alto).

CHI 2007 Is Over – CHI Tour, Too...

The CHI 2007 conference on human factors in computing systems, held in San Jose, California, USA, is over. The SAP booth had been busy from the beginning and continued so: On Tuesday, there was an author meets designer signature event with Karen Holtzblatt and Jörg Beringer. On Thursday, there was a Q&A session with Dan Rosenberg, Senior Vice President, SAP User Experience, during the morning break.
 SAP participated in the CHI tour the day after the conference: On May 4, Google, Intuit, Frog Design, and SAP invited CHI attendees to visit each of their campuses to meet their designers and tour their facilities.

SAP Usability Activities at 2007 ASUG Annual Conference

The 2007 ASUG Annual Conference took place from April 22 - 25 in Atlanta, Georgia. As in previous years, SAP development staff – developers, solution managers, and user interface designers – had the opportunity to collect feedback on design concepts and applications at the conference.

Interaktionsforum Interaktionsdesign

The aim of the two day conference “Innovationsforum Interaktionsdesign“, held in Potsdam, Germany, on March 30-31, 2007, was to focus on all aspects of interface and interaction design: mobile telephone and media interfaces, problem solutions und product visions, web pages and virtual worlds, art und commerce, business and science. Several SAP UI professionals attended the conference.

SAP Took Part in World Usability Day 2006

On November 14, 2006, there was a local event for the World Usability Day 2006 at SAP's headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, on November 14, 2006.

It was the first time that SAP has been actively involved in this event, which was organized in cooperation with partners, such as design agency kuehlhaus AG, Weinheim, and University of Applied Sciences, Mannheim. The event included several presentations from practitioners, a panel discussion, and an exhibition.

"Germany, Land of Ideas" Initiative Honors UI Design Degree Program at Fachhochschule Potsdam

The Initiative "Germany, Land of Ideas" organizes 365 events all over the country in 2006 to "show the world how Germans have been making life more comfortable, secure and enjoyable for centuries." The Fachhochschule Potsdam - Studiengang Interface Design - IDL Interaction Design Lab, Potsdam will be the "landmark of the day" at the 4th of October in recognition of its "unique degree program for young designers to learn how they can simplify and enhance our daily interaction with computers." Christine Wiegand and Gerd Waloszek from the SAP Design Guild Team were invited to be keynote speakers of this event.

World Usability Day and DUX 2005

The goal of World Usability Day is to promote the fields of usability engineering and user-centered design. The UPA World Usability Day Committee aims to do this by encouraging, organizing, and sponsoring activities at the local level around the globe, all occurring on November 3, 2005. The UPA, UPA chapters, and allied organizations all held events, revolving around a common theme – "Making it easy – World Usability Day", with a focus this year on egovernment, ecommerce and other commercial applications.
The World Usability Day coincided with the opening day of DUX 2005, which featured a collection of half- and full-day tutorials, and tours of San Francisco's premier design studios. The opening plenary reception honored World Usability Day.
