Dan Rosenberg on Design in SAP Info

Dan Rosenberg Interviewed About "Gamification" by the Globes Magazine, Israel
Dan Rosenberg, former SVP SAP User Experience, was recently interviewed by Shmulik Shelach from the Globes magazine in Israel about the gamification trend. Shelach's article, entitled "Changing the Rules of the Game", appeared in Hebrew on January 9, 2012 and is in large parts based on the interview.

Dan Rosenberg and Janaki Kumar Published in the Interactions Magazine About Global UX Teams

SAP UX Organized and Participated in DUXU 2011 Paper Sessions
In July 2011, SAP UX members organized two paper sessions at the HCI International conference. Further SAP UX members, together with participants from other companies, presented papers at the sessions. The sessions were part of the 1st International Conference on Design, User Experience, and Usability (DUXU) that was held jointly with the HCI International 2011 conference in Orlando, FL, USA from July 9-14, 2011. HCI Encyclopedia of Interaction-Design.Org Went Online
As you may know, Dan Rosenberg, SVP, SAP User Experience, is on the board of interaction-design.org. He and his fellow board members have been working all year to launch an encyclopedia of HCI. The good news is: The encyclopedia went online on February 1, 2011. The new encyclopedia includes videos, commentaries, and lots more. All chapters are written by leading figures within each subject. The people behind the encyclopedia want to continue making world-class educational materials available for free and believe in the democratization of knowledge: That people from all the far corners of the world can get free access to world-class educational materials.
Currently, the encyclopedia offers seven chapters, and many more are to come – you can find an overview of current and prospective chapters on the encyclopedia's home page.

Announcing the Start of the 10th Anniversary Edition
The SAP Design Guild proudly announces the eleventh edition of the SAP Design Guild Website. It commemorates the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Website in April 2010 and will be our special way of celebrating this event. "Special way" means that, unlike previous editions, this one will not be published "all in one go." Instead, it will be a "growing" or "cumulative" edition, with articles being added in the course of the anniversary year. SAP Usability Activities at TechEd Europe 2009
For the fourth time, the SAP User Experience Team sponsored usability activities at SAP TechEd Europe. The conference took place in Vienna, Austria, from October 27 to 29, 2009.
Attendees had the chance to test new and existing SAP solutions and tools and provide on-the-spot feedback to SAP developers and usability experts. They could choose from 17 test topics in the areas of administration and configuration, applications and runtimes, and modeling and development.

Short Paper About Perceived Performance Accepted for INTERACT 2009
A short paper by Gerd Waloszek and Ulrich Kreichgauer, SAP UX – Infrastructure, outlining the PeP method and titled "User-Centered Evaluation of the Responsiveness of Applications," has been accepted for the INTERACT 2009 conference and was presented on the second conference day. The conference was held on August 26-28, 2009, in Uppsala, Sweden.

Special Issue of the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction Honors Ben Shneiderman's 60th Birthday
In honor of Ben Shneiderman's 60th birthday, a special issue of the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction (volume 23, issue 3, 2007) has been published. In the introduction Reflections on Human-Computer Interaction Catherine Plaisant and Chris North state: For more than 30 years, Ben Shneiderman has promoted HCI through his prolific writing and lecturing and his direction of the Human–Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL; 1983–2000) at the University of Maryland, where he is Professor of Computer Science. The issue is comprised of five articles, which cover topics, such as visualization, information seeking, as well as societal issues and HCI.

The 19th of September, 2007 started a new era for SAP customers, users of
SAP software, and the company itself. At a global press event in New York,

software solution SAP Business ByDesign™ for the midsize market.

The CHI 2007 conference on human factors in computing systems, held in San
Jose, California, USA, is over. The SAP booth had been busy from the beginning
and continued so: On Tuesday, there was an author meets designer signature
event with Karen Holtzblatt and Jörg Beringer. On Thursday, there was
a Q&A session with Dan Rosenberg, Senior Vice President, SAP User Experience,
during the morning break.
SAP
participated in the CHI tour the day after the conference: On May 4, Google,
Intuit, Frog Design, and SAP invited CHI attendees to visit each of their campuses
to meet their designers and tour their facilities.

CHI 2007 – See You at the SAP Booth
The CHI 2007 conference on human factors in computing systems is opening
soon: It will be held in San Jose, California, USA, from April 28 - May 3,
2007. As in previous years, SAP will be a Champion Sponsor to CHI and have

SAP Took Part in World Usability Day 2006
On
November 14, 2006, there was a local event for the World Usability Day 2006
at SAP's headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, on November 14, 2006.
It was the first time that SAP has been actively involved in this event, which was organized in cooperation with partners, such as design agency kuehlhaus AG, Weinheim, and University of Applied Sciences, Mannheim. The event included several presentations from practitioners, a panel discussion, and an exhibition.

SAP

"Germany, Land of Ideas" Initiative Honors UI Design Degree Program at Fachhochschule Potsdam
The
Initiative "Germany, Land of Ideas" organizes 365 events all over
the country in 2006 to "show the world how Germans have been making life
more comfortable, secure and enjoyable for centuries." The Fachhochschule
Potsdam - Studiengang Interface Design - IDL Interaction Design Lab, Potsdam will
be the "landmark of the day" at the 4th of October in recognition
of its "unique degree program for young designers to learn how they can
simplify and enhance our daily interaction with computers." Christine
Wiegand and Gerd Waloszek from the SAP Design Guild Team were invited to be
keynote speakers of this event.

World Usability Day and DUX 2005
The
goal of World
Usability Day is to promote the fields of usability engineering and user-centered
design. The UPA World Usability Day Committee aims to do this by encouraging,
organizing, and sponsoring activities at the local level around the globe,
all occurring on November 3, 2005. The UPA, UPA chapters, and allied organizations
all held events, revolving around a common theme – "Making it easy – World
Usability Day", with a focus this year on egovernment, ecommerce and other
commercial applications.
The World Usability Day coincided with the opening day of DUX
2005, which featured a collection of half- and full-day tutorials, and
tours of San Francisco's premier design studios. The opening plenary reception
honored World Usability Day.
