SAP Design Guild Newsletter – December 2010 (No. 74,

We would like to inform you of the following additions to the Website:
- We continued work on the 10th Anniversary Edition and published
two more articles:
- Sustainability, SAP, and Design...
- Design is the Solution – From Visual Clarity to Clarity in
the Mind
- We plan to publish one more article about Designing for the Elderly by
the end of this year, but we may have to delay it until January, as well.
- We also published a new editorial:
- Final Spurt for 2010 on the SAP Design Guild
- We added three articles to our UI Design Blinks column:
- Excel Strikes Back: Bye-Bye Processing – Hello Excel?
- Processing Strikes Back: Simple Table Lenses Programmed Using Processing
- Virtual Possessions
- Perhaps there will be even one more UI Design Blink this year…
- We updated our events page and now display events for 2011 and 2012 on
the main events page
- Finally, we added two new book presentations and applied some updates
to the Books & People section
Moreover, we made a number of updates to our link pages in the Goodies section.

We would like to inform you of the following additions to the Website:
- After a long break, we added a new article to the 10th Anniversary
Edition:
- Harmonization of International Standards and Guidelines as a
Basis for the Inclusion of Everyone
- We also published a new photo page in our Stories section
- SAP's Presence at World Usability Day 2010 – A Photo Story
- We added two articles to our UI Design Blinks column
- Annotators Not Welcome in the Age of Ebooks
- Bye-Bye Excel – Hello Processing!
- We published two new book reviews in the Books & People section:
- Designing with the Mind in Mind by Jeff Johnson (appendix)
- Analyzing Social Media Networks with NodeXL by Derek Hansen,
Ben Shneiderman, and Marc Smith (appendix)
SAP UX Activities
- Once again, we would like to draw your attention to SAP User Experience’s
worldwide hiring initiative. Please take a look at our page with job offers
and feel free to forward this information to possible applicants.
- SAP UX will also be present at a number of job events at universities
in Germany (Münster, Köln, Potsdam)
Outlook
In addition, we are still busy preparing new articles (to be published in
December) for the 10th Anniversary Edition.

We would like to inform you of the following additions to the Website:
- We published two new articles in the Stories section:
- SAP's Presence at DIS 2010 in Aarhus, Denmark – A Photo
Story
- DIS 2010 – A UI Design Practitioner's Report
- We added six new quotes to our Quotes for You page
- Last but not least, we introduced a new column with short, blog-like articles
(but not a blog…) called UI Design Blinks:
- We started the column with three articles (overview); a
fourth article was published just recently
- Furthermore, we will soon publish a new book review in the Books & People
section:
- Book review: Designing with the Mind in Mind by Jeff Johnson
(appendix)
The review will be out next week – please check the site from
time to time.
SAP UX Conference/Event Activities
SAP User Experience will sponsor and take part in the following conferences

Outlook
We have still two book reviews in our pipeline (Presentation Zen Design by
Garr Reynolds, preliminary review page; Analyzing Social Media Networks with
NodeXL by Derek Hansen, Ben Shneiderman, and Marc Smith, preliminary review
page). We hope to publish the latter in the beginning of November.
In addition, we are still busy preparing new articles for the 10th Anniversary
Edition, but it will take until November/December before we will be able to
publish them.

First, we would like to inform you that the SAP Design Guild Website celebrates its 10th anniversary in April 2010. In an editorial, long-time team members Christine Ronnewinkel and Gerd Waloszek provide a quick summary of the history of the site as well as a brief outlook with regard to its future and thank all their visitors for their long-standing support:
