Structure of IAC Screens | Application, Screen, and Area Titles

Structure of IAC Screens

Internet Application Components (IACs) are "self-contained"; they are not included within a group box, or other container. IACs have the default page background (currently tatami blue).

Note: Trays must not be used in IACs, they are exclusively reserved for MiniApps.

Areas

The basic structure of IACs is made up of areas; these are regions on the screen, which serve certain purposes with respect to the users' tasks. A simple application may consist of only one area with no area title. For more information on areas see Guidelines for Areas.

Structural Levels

The structural levels of an IAC are:

  1. Areas (highest level)
  2. Group boxes/container, tabstrips, tables
  3. Element groups
  4. Elements (lowest level)

That is, an IAC consists of one or more areas which may contain, for example, group boxes and tables. A group box may contain single elements or groups of elements which are composed of single elements.

Note: See Layout - Hierarchy of Screen Elements for more information on the element hierarchy.

Application, Screen, and Area Titles

Provide the purpose of an application in the title bar in the SAP IAC Header. The same title should appear in the Launchpad, if the IAC is listed there.

The purpose of a screen area is shown in the area header. However, if a screen consists of just one area, that is, has no global divisions, then there is no area header.

Note: See Titles of IACs, Areas, and Groups in the SAP Reference Lists on the SAP Design Guild for details on the formulation of titles. See Guidelines for Screen Areas for details on areas.
