            New Story: Leading Global UX Teams

          <description>
            In this article, the authors, Dan Rosenberg, SVP, SAP User Experience,
            and Janaki Kumar from SAP UX, offer some best-practice recommendations
            based on their combined experience of more than 40 years in the global
            UX field. They outline six scenarios for the mission of global UX
            teams and conclude with a few principles that apply universally.

          <description>
            In this fourth article in his series, Designing for a Workforce That
            Acts More Sustainably, our author will look at the second of four
            action items, namely using ambient media to support awareness of
            remote colleagues. This article has also been added to the new highlight
            topic about

            New Editorial: SAP User Experience at DUXU 2011 and More...
          </title>
          <description>
            In the summer editorial, our author points readers to two events:
            Firstly, to the two paper sessions at the DUXU 2011 conference that
            have been organized by SAP UX members and that appeared already in
            our SAP UI News; secondly, to the publication of our new highlight
            topic
&quot;
            Designing for a Sustainable Future
&quot;
            that has been released - already at an early stage - to support one
            of the two DUXU 2011 sessions, namely the one focusing on sustainability.

            New Highlight Topic
&quot;
            Designing for a Sustainable Future
&quot;
            Released
          </title>
          <description>
            We released a new highlight topic to promote the sustainability session
            with SAP User Experience participation at the DUXU 2011 conference.
            This highlight topic is on the one hand meant to support the session
            and to complement it with further articles and information, and on
            the other to present sustainability-related information on the SAP
            Design Guild Website in one location for easier access. Because of
            the DUXU 2011 session, we released the highlight topic already at
            an early stage, that is, with a relatively small number of articles.
            We hope to extend the collection in the next months.

            New Story: SAP Helps Apple Keep iPhone Away from Bad Guys - A User
            Experience Perspective
          </title>
          <description>
            In June 2011, SAP's Global Trade Services (GTS) version 10 successfully
            exited ramp-up and became generally available. This is a major achievement
            for the team since this release is full of break through innovation
            based on complex customer and requirements, and a thoughtfully redesigned
            user experience that hides much of this complexity from the end-user.
            This article tells the story of the user experience team's contribution
            to this milestone. We added the article also to our SAP User Experience
            edition.

            - Part 3
          </title>
          <description>
            In a series of six articles, our author investigates how designers
            – particularly user interface (UI), user experience (UX), and interaction
            (IxD) designers – can contribute to making a company's work force
            behave more sustainably. In this and the following three articles,
            he looks at the action items that he identified for designers one
            by one and in more detail. He begins with the first action item,
&quot;
            designing for remote collaboration and communication

            New Article Added to 10th Anniversary Edition: Design for the Elderly
            – Designing for People with Alzheimer's
          </title>
          <description>
            Alzheimer's disease is the most frequent form of dementia. In this
            article about designing for people with Alzheimer's, the authors
            first extend on the fact that environmental structures can support
            cognitive processes. They then describe some examples of how the
            purposeful design of artifacts support persons with Alzheimer's.
            Finally, they deal with the specifics of the design in this specific
            context, pointing out that supporting cognition is just one design
            goal, and it is a goal with limits.

            New Design Tidbit: Eurovision Song Contest 2011 and NodeXL: A Perfect

          </title>
          <description>
            In the first part of his article about applying the visualization
            tool NodeXL to the European Song Contest (ESC) 2011 voting data,
            our author presents variations of the same graph that illustrate
            how certain NodeXL features help make the graph less cluttered yet
            more instructive: He starts with the default global appearance, and
            then uses NodeXL's autofill feature to apply global changes to edges
            and vertices based on graph metrics. Finally, he applies dynamic
            filters to change the graph selectively, with regards to edges, vertices,
            and filter opacity.

          <description>
            In the second part of his article, our author will demonstrate how
            you can assign category colors to edges and vertices. Categories
            can be assigned in various ways: automatically, manually, or by performing
            simple calculations or manipulations. Finally, he will show how you
            can use a map as graph background and thus provide a natural layout
            for data that has a geographic reference.

          </title>
          <description>
            Today, we started making the design of the SAP Design Guild Website
            more compatible with the www.sap.com company Website. This will be
            gradual process - so be prepared for further design changes in course
            of the next months.

            returning to Canada and will be held in beautiful Vancouver, British
            Columbia, famous for offering some of the most spectecular scenery
            for a city in the world. Our editorial describes the upcoming CHI

            New Editorial: 10th Anniversary Edition (Nearly) Complete
          </title>
          <description>
            At the end of March 2011, the 10th anniversary year of the SAP Design
            Guild Website will be over, and the Website will celebrate its 11th
            anniversary. We will also complete the 10th Anniversary Edition in
            time - or rather, nearly in time, because two articles are still
            in progress and may not make it into the edition by then. However,
            we regard this delay only as a minor issue. It reflects that in the
            real world, not all plans are put into practice as intended.

            In his third article about designing for the elderly, our author
            approaches this topic from a personal point of view, putting the
            focus on reporting on his own experiences - including experiences
            with his parents and grandparents and on changes that accompany the

            New Article Added to 10th Anniversary Edition: Design for the Elderly
            - Some Tightrope Walks
          </title>
          <description>
            Designing for the elderly has become a prominent topic at UI and
            design conferences in recent years, but has not yet been covered
            accordingly on the SAP Design Guild Website. However, we are now
            gathering pace. Here is our second article from this domain, in which
            we would like to discuss a number of dilemmas that designers face
            when they design for elderly people - we view them as walking tightropes.

            New Article Added to 10th Anniversary Edition: Designing for a Work
            Force That Acts More Sustainably - Part 1
          </title>
          <description>
            This short series of two articles begins by distinguishing between
            a sustainable work force and the sustainable behavior of a work force.
            The latter concept will be the sole subject of this article series,
            however, and it will also be approached from a designer's point of
            view. In the remainder of this first article, our author will briefly
            touch on some of the important factors that determine how sustainably
            a company's work force is and point out action items for designers.
